Do these devices look familiar?
There is a new condition being encountered in the hand which is directly related to the excessive use of a computer mouse,
smart phone and finger related use of computer screens.
This condition is called mouse finger, texting thumb and carpal tunnel syndrome. This appears to be
directly related to the flexion of the wrist over the edge of the table or constant pressure on the mouse
from the base of the hand and progressive scar tissue formation that often results in surgery.
The texting thumb condition is more of a tendinitis, but can result in triggering and locking of the thumb
when the scar tissue develops a nodule in the tendon sheath. This, in the early stage can be treated with injection, but
often results in surgical release.
Thus, we are now seeing a new condition related to the advent of high-tech and any new changes will be related to you as they
occur.
